A PERSONAL INVITATION FROM STEPHANIE
Hola, friends.
This gathering is deeply personal for me.
For as long as I can remember, I have carried a longing for a great Mother—to see me, want me, hold me, hear me and love me.
My particular raising made that thirst even deeper, and like so many of us, I searched for that love in places that sometimes only left me hungrier.
For years, I carried a $1.99 statue of the Virgin of Guadalupe with me everywhere I traveled. I would place her beside my bed and make a tiny altar wherever I happened to be.
I didn’t really understand who she was.
I only knew I needed her near me.
Then, on November 9, 2019, everything changed.
I was traveling from the ancient city of Teotihuacán toward the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe when my dear friend Emily Grieves began reading aloud the miraculous story of Guadalupe and Juan Diego.
I listened like a little girl, my eyes and heart wide open.
I didn’t simply hear the story. I felt her.
Something inside me recognized her.
It felt as though she were calling me home.
When I finally entered the Basilica and passed beneath the miraculous tilma of Juan Diego, the little $1.99 statue I had carried around the world suddenly came alive for me.
I stood on that moving walkway looking up at this centuries-old garment and felt something I had spent a lifetime longing for:
A Mother’s love. Grace poured through me. I cried.
And then I went around again. And again. And again.
Could standing beneath a piece of fabric, the Tilma hundreds of years old really open my heart to the love I had searched for my entire life?
For me, the answer was yes.
I felt held. I felt loved.
And somewhere deep within my heart, I heard an invitation:
Open your heart like hers.
Carry hope.
Believe in miracles.
And share the medicine of love.
Every December, millions of pilgrims journey toward the Basilica of Guadalupe.
Some walk a mile. Some walk for days.
They carry flowers, photographs, gratitude, heartbreak, impossible prayers and dreams that refuse to die.
One step at a time, they walk toward the Mother.
Some of us will also be making this sacred pilgrimage in person, walking the 26 miles from the pyramids of Teotihuacán to the Basilica on a sacred journey from December 6 through December 13. For more information, please follow this link: Here
And now I invite you to make a pilgrimage of your own.
Not across Mexico.
Across the landscape of your heart.

OUR ONLINE PILGRIMAGE
On this special evening, we will gather from wherever we are in the world and create an altar together.
Through sacred storytelling and Sacred Journey Breathwork, we will journey inward—carrying a prayer for ourselves, someone we love, our families or our world.
We will breathe into the places that need tenderness.
We will listen for guidance.
We will make room for gratitude, grace, hope and perhaps even a miracle.
And we will open ourselves to our own relationship with Tonantzin — “She who comes from the region of light with the wings of an eagle.”
Come as you are.
Bring your prayer.
Bring your longing.
Bring the thing you don’t know how to fix.
Bring your gratitude.
Bring your hope.
And for one sacred hour, allow yourself to be held by the Mother.
THIS GATHERING IS A GIFT.
There is no charge to attend.
Please register in advance so you receive the Zoom information and can be settled and ready to begin promptly at 7:30 PM Central.
